The story behind RESTNLOAD

Fitment

Which bed frame do you have?

There are two common metal bed frame profiles. We engineered a mount for each, because a clamp that fits both properly fits neither.

Standard

The “L”-shaped steel frame

The classic frame that holds a box spring, with the mattress on top. The rail has an L-shaped profile with a lip along the top edge.

Platform

The square or rectangular rail

The modern platform frame — no box spring, mattress sits directly on the rails. The rail is a squared-off tube.

Installation

How do you install it?

By hand, in a few minutes. The mount arrives fully assembled — there is nothing to build and nothing to drill.

Actual RESTNLOAD installation demonstration

01

Lift the mattress clear of the rail

On a standard frame, raise the box spring about half an inch so the bracket can slide between it and the rail. On a platform frame, lift the corner of the mattress.

02

Slide the bracket over the frame rail

Position it where you want to reach — far enough along the rail that you won’t knock it, close enough that your hand finds it in the dark.

03

Hand-tighten the compression bolt

Turn the clamp until it’s firm against the rail. Lower the mattress. That’s the whole installation — no screws, no tape, no tools.

Before you load it: read the safety notes included in the box, and check the clamp and the magnet screws are tight. Re-check them every few months.

Works where the alternatives cannot.

Nothing else would work for the type of bed frame that I have. Holds a full-size, fully-loaded 9mm with optical sight (i.e., a heavy gun) securely. The magnet is a lot stronger than you might expect for its size

Excellent bedside gun magnet!

I got this gun magnet to use on my platform bed frame, but found that I liked it more on my nightstand. So this adjustable gun magnet is versatile. It is strong too, it easily holds my Canik TP9 SFx with tac light and red dot sight. It’s the best gun magnet I’ve come across for both draw speed and holding strength.

Very heavy magnet; worked perfectly

This bedside weapon holder is very heavy and well-made. It was very simple to install and took less than five minutes. I was very impressed that the magnet holds heavy items very strongly. It is rubber-coated so it won’t scratch the firearm. You simply reach down and retrieve it with no fumbling around in a drawer or locked box.

quick deployment

In my opinion, this bedside magnet-holster is the easiest way and fastest to deploy our choice of protection from home intruders intending to harm myself and my family. I like that there are no screws involved in installing this on our bed frame and I had positioned it where it is not easily seen yet very accessible to me.

Strong Magnet Grip and easy to install

This replaces the universal between the box spring and mattress nylon holster I have that will slip out and let everything hit the floor with a thud or when making the bed, the magnetic mount isn’t going anywhere once installed no matter what you are doing on the bed.

This Magnet is Amazing

So I tested it with: polymer striker-fire with 18rnds and it held it no problem. In fact I was amazed how strong the magnet was and still had holding power. I then tried it on a revolver as well as a hammered metal pistol with 9rnds and it held them just as strong. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

Standalone magnet mounted on a wooden bed frame

Wooden beds · Desks · Other surfaces

No metal rail?
Just the magnets.

The Universal 2-Pack gives you two rubber-encapsulated magnets without the clamping brackets. Attach them to a suitable wooden bed frame, headboard, desk or other solid mounting surface.

Screws are required. Tape is optional cushioning for uneven surfaces. Never rely on tape alone.

Responsibility

A magnet is not a safe.

Children at home? Do not use an open mount.
If children live in or visit your home, choose locked storage.

We should be direct about this, because it matters more than a sale. A magnetic mount is an open-access storage method. It is built for one thing: letting an adult reach a firearm quickly, in the dark, without fumbling. It does not lock, and it is not a substitute for a safe.

One of our own five-star reviewers put it plainly: “it is not recommended in a house with children.” We agree, and we would rather say so here than have you find out later.

Questions

Before you buy

Almost certainly, if your frame is metal. The STANDARD mount fits “L”-shaped steel frames — the common type that holds a box spring — where the most common rail measures 1-1/2″ wide by 1-1/2″ tall. The PLATFORM mount fits square and rectangular rails from 1/2″ up to 1-5/8″ wide. Measure the outer width of your rail and match it to one of those two. If your bed has a solid wooden frame with no metal rail, neither bed mount will clamp to it — use the Universal 2-Pack on a nightstand instead.

The 43 lb figure is the rated pull force under ideal conditions — flat, clean, direct contact with a thick steel surface. A handgun does not meet ideal conditions, so treat it as headroom rather than a target. In practice that headroom is generous: customers report holding a full-size, fully-loaded 9mm with a red dot and a weapon light. Grip contact matters more than weight — polymer and rubber grips are not magnetic, so the mount holds the slide or the frame.

Not with a fully encapsulated magnet. This is the distinction worth understanding: most gun magnets are rubber coated — a layer sprayed or dipped onto the magnet face, which can wear through at the edges over time and expose bare metal. Ours is fully encapsulated, meaning the magnet is sealed inside the rubber housing. There is no path to metal-on-metal contact with your slide, and none with your bed frame either.

No — and we would rather lose the sale than be vague about it. A magnetic mount is open-access storage. It has no lock, no key and no code, which is exactly what makes it fast for you and exactly what makes it unsuitable where an unsupervised child could reach it. If children live in or visit your home, use a locking quick-access safe instead. If you still want magnetic speed, mount it inside a locked container.

No. The mount ships fully assembled and clamps on with a compression bolt you turn by hand. There is no drilling, no screwing into the frame, no adhesive tape and no permanent modification. Most people finish in under five minutes. Written instructions are included in the box.

The bracket geometry, and nothing else — same 43 lb magnet, same encapsulation, same price. The STANDARD bracket is shaped to hook over the lip of an “L”-profile rail on a frame that carries a box spring. The PLATFORM bracket clamps around a squared-off tube rail on a frame where the mattress sits directly on top. Buying the wrong one means it won't seat properly, so measure first.

Yes. Customers have reported holding a full-size, fully-loaded 9mm with an optical sight, and a Canik TP9 SFx with both a tac light and a red dot. Accessories add weight but they also usually add steel, so contact area tends to improve. The thing that reduces hold is not weight — it is a non-magnetic contact patch, so present the slide or the frame to the magnet rather than a polymer grip.

Yes. The bed mounts clamp to anything with a comparable rail — customers use them on desk frames and workbenches. For cars, trucks, walls, safes and nightstands, the Universal 2-Pack is the better choice: same 43 lb magnet and the same full encapsulation, in a flat compact body designed to mount to a surface rather than clamp to a rail.
