Which bed frame do you have?
There are two common metal bed frame profiles. We engineered one mount for the more modern platform frame, which usually supports a mattress directly on its square or rectangular tubing, and another for the more traditional frame, which uses an L-shaped rail that supports a box spring.
Square or rectangular tubing
Closed rail with a flat top. Platform beds usually support one foam mattress, although some use two.
“L”-shaped steel rail
A box spring sits inside this L-shaped channel.
Neither frame profile fits?
Choose two standalone magnets for suitable solid surfaces such as a desk, wall, nightstand, vehicle, or workbench. Secure each magnet with screws; the supplied screws are for wood or use with the included drywall anchors. Other surfaces may need different fasteners.

How do I measure my bed frame?
Inspect your bed frame
If necessary, move your bedding up and away from the bed rail. A platform bed frame will typically have square or rectangular rails. Most of the time, a platform bed frame supports just 1 foam-type mattress. However, there are some platform beds with 2 foam mattresses. If you see a frame supporting a box spring, that would be the standard bed frame. The box spring sits inside the L-shaped channel.
For a Platform bed frame
Reference the Platform measurement image in the Platform card above. The outside rail width should be 1/2″ to 1-5/8″, its outside height at least 3/4″, and the space between cross-members at least 1-3/4″.
For a Standard bed frame
Reference the Standard measurement image in the Standard card above. Confirm either 1-1/2″ × 1-1/2″ outside or 1-1/4″ × 1-1/4″ inside. The Standard assembly does not fit rails with a 2″ vertical side.
For other mounting locations
If neither clamp fits, consider the Universal 2-Pack for a suitable solid surface. Choose a location with room for the magnet and secure it with appropriate screws. See the Universal card above for common locations and hardware guidance.
Edge cases
What if my frame is unusual?
The Platform bracket will not open far enough for a rail wider than 1-5/8″. Clamp it to a compatible narrower cross-member or slat if available. Otherwise, use a Universal magnet on a suitable solid surface with appropriate screws.
We do not recommend our products for these bed frame designs.
Platform and Standard can be installed on a compatible section of the bed frame, including the footboard side. If no suitable rail is available there, consider the screw-mounted Universal 2-Pack on a suitable solid surface.
If it has a steel slide or a steel frame, almost certainly. The more surface contact the better. Our customers have given us positive feedback on many different firearms and firearm configurations. The most common exceptions are non-ferrous metals and composites. Magnets are not compatible with non-ferrous metals.
